Whether you are a seasoned player or new to the game, our program offers an opportunity to enjoy the sport, improve your skills, make new friends and prepare for advancement in the sport should that be a priority

U5-U6: Folsom Lake Surf Community League

These age groups will play 4 v 4

U7-U8: Folsom Lake Surf Community League

These age groups will play 7 v 7

U9-U14: Three Bridges Soccer Group League

These age groups play 7 v 7, 9 v 9 and 11 v 11 in a league organized and managed by Folsom Lake Surf and neighboring recreation leagues from areas such as Rancho Cordova, Fair Oaks, Carmichael and Orangevale

U15-U19: Super Rec League

These age groups play 11 v 11 in Super Rec League by NorCal Premier Soccer.

This matrix indicates the age group in which your child will play. Children are not permitted to play in an age group lower than what is indicated by the below age chart.

2026 Season Details

  • You will be contacted by your coach in July with your team’s information.
  • Practices for the Recreation program will start the 5th week of July as long as your child has been placed on a team with a coach that has been cleared with the necessary background check and safety training. Practices will continue through the last full week of October. There are no practices in November.
  • Practices are two nights a week on either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday on various fields at parks and schools in Folsom (based on the coach’s preference). Practice days, times, and locations cannot be selected by parents/players or guaranteed by the Club.
  • Practice times adjust throughout the season due to reduced sunlight. Practice duration times for younger age teams (ie: U5-U8) may be shortened even further due to the younger age (i.e. 40-45 minutes each) at coaches’ discretion.
  • Parents/Guardians are required to attend all practices & games for U5-U10 teams (not just drop and go).

  • Each team will play up to 10 Saturday games starting around mid-August through mid-November. However, it is common for a game or two to be cancelled due to poor air quality or weather conditions. Cancelled games are not rescheduled.
  • U5-U8 games are played within Folsom. The first games for this age group will take place on Sat. Aug. 17th.
  • U9-U14 games are played within Folsom and near-by communities – Rancho Cordova, Fair Oaks, Orangevale and the Carmichael area. A seeding tournament for the U9-U14 teams will be Sat. Aug. 8th.
  • U15-U19 games are played in the NorCal Super Rec League at various locations in Folsom and Northern California.
  • Game schedules are typically released in mid August and October depending on your age group.
  • Teams will experience one or two BYE weeks off for holiday and reseeding (except for U15-U19 teams).
  • Practices and/or games may be cancelled because of excessive heat.
  • Practices and/or games may be curtailed or cancelled because of poor air quality.
  • Folsom Lake Surf cancels all sanctioned activities when the local Air Quality Index (AQI) exceeds 150.

A. Your child must have a birthdate between August 1, 2021 and July 31,2022, no exceptions.

A. Our Recreational Soccer program runs from Mid July through early November. There are typically about 10 games in a season for each team in U5 through U19.

No. We roster over 2000 players each season and we cannot accept requests for practice days/times/locations. We allow our volunteer coaches to choose their practice schedule and practice location based on availability.

A. Yes, there is a section on the registration form for friend requests. Please understand this is a request, not a guarantee. All requests must be the same age group as your child you are requesting.

A. Yes. You can email the registrar and ask for a refund, however, there is an admin fee that is withheld as our club pays the league for every player that is registered. Please see the section on refunds for the schedule and more info.

A. We encourage parents to contact the Coach before reaching out to the club. There is limited movement possible after the formation of the teams.

A. No.

A. If your child makes a Folsom Lake Surf competitive team (U8-U19), we will either reimburse or apply 100% of the recreation registration, less fees to the competitive registration/tuition. If your child leaves the club for another competitive program, our normal refund policy would apply. All requests must be submitted in writing to our Club Services Manager via email to dineen@folsomlakesurf.org; this is not automatically applied.

A. Folsom Lake Surf does not allow player play-ups. As a way for teams to be able to stay together year after year, all players must play within their specific age group. Teams will likely play against teams of mixed ages (2 birth year teams) when they play against other clubs.

A. No, as per our State Association rules, players are not permitted to play down an age group.

A. If your player is born between August 1st – August 31st, your player will be permitted to play up with the age group they participated in for the 2025 season or align with the new age group for the 2026 season.

A. If your child’s birthday is between September 1st and December 31st, your child will be assigned to participate in the age group outlined in the above age group matrix.

Folsom Lake Surf has coaching opportunities. If you wish to be a Volunteer Coach for Folsom Lake Surf, please register at FOLSOM LAKE SURF FALL 2026 VOLUNTEER COACH REGISTRATION. We will provide you with more information about our program. You do not need any special qualifications or experience to coach a recreational team. Folsom Lake Surf holds a coaching clinic before the season begins, typically at the end of July. The coaching clinic will teach you how to coach a youth soccer team, offer suggestions for practice drills, and suggest techniques that you may use for your own practices.

Uniforms & Equipment

Folsom Lake Surf requires all players to wear the official club uniform to maintain a consistent team identity.

Folsom Lake Surf strives to project an image of the community. The uniform plays an integral part in forging the club’s identity and pride in the organization. This can only be accomplished if all Folsom Lake Surf teams wear the designated club uniform so that no matter what age group, no matter what occasion, the team can be readily identified as representing the Folsom Lake Surf.

All items of the uniform kit must be in the designated colors. Any variance of color cannot be worn or used at any event in which the player or team is representing Folsom Lake Surf.

  • All players must have one Nike White SURF Jersey and one Nike Royal Blue SURF Jersey
  • Each player must wear Nike Black Shorts and Nike Black Socks
  • Each player must wear shin guards
  • Soccer cleats are encouraged for better traction
  • IMPORTANT – Recreational Player may choose their Jersey Numbers (Duplicates are allowed)
  • Folsom Lake Surf DOES NOT have any uniform inventory on site
  • The home team wears Royal Blue SURF Jersey and the away team wears White SURF Jersey.

Order your uniforms immediately to ensure on-time arrival. Orders will be fulfilled and shipped directly to you from Soccer Post Orders will be fulfilled and shipped directly to you.

The cost of uniforms is not included in the registration fee. The cost of uniforms is approx. $75.00 to $125.00 including tax & shipping. The cost will be determined based on individual orders. All players are required to purchase a Royal Blue SURF Jersey and a White SURF Jersey. Please note: You are not required to purchase jerseys annually as long as you have both jerseys and they are in wearable condition.

Folsom Lake Surf Recreational 2026 refund policy

All refund requests must be submitted in writing to our Club Services Manager via email to dineen@folsomlakesurf.org

Refund requests for a recreation soccer player will be based on the following:

  • Requests received prior to May 15th – full refund minus a $25.00 fee
  • Requests received May 16th – July 31st will receive a 50% refund

There will be no refunds for recreation soccer players beginning August 1st unless we are unable to place your child on a team or the season is canceled.

Please note:

If your child makes a Surf competitive team (U8-U19), we will either reimburse or apply 100% of the recreation registration, less fees to the competitive registration/tuition. If your child leaves the club for another competitive program, our normal refund policy would apply.
