Folsom Lake Surf Financial Aid (SFA) program is designed to assist those families who may not be able to afford the total cost of recreational or competitive soccer.

Financial Aid Program Details

Folsom Lake Surf (FLS) offers financial assistance to its members who demonstrate financial need or hardship related to soccer expenses, subject to the availability of funds. All applications are evaluated based on a consistent set of criteria to ensure fairness and equity. Financial aid decisions are solely at the discretion of the FLS Financial Aid Committee. All information submitted in support of a financial aid application remains confidential, except as necessary for program administration.

The FLS Financial Aid Committee will review all applications and contact a representative of the club to discuss further or notify you of any aid awarded. However, we cannot guarantee financial aid. Incomplete applications may result in disqualification.

To be eligible for financial aid, you must submit the following documentation:

  • Complete copies of the most recent year’s federal income tax returns.
  • W-2 forms for all employed family members.
  • Copies of most recent payroll stubs reflecting year-to-date earnings for all employed family members.
  • Copies of any court orders (e.g., divorce papers) regarding financial responsibility and/or support for the player.
  • The FLS Financial Aid Application.

Please list any special circumstances contributing to your need for financial assistance.

Eligibility

Financial aid is open to any FLS member who meets the qualification requirements. The primary criterion for qualification is family income. However, the FLS Financial Aid Committee may consider other factors such as unemployment or financial hardships.

To be eligible for financial aid, all applicants must maintain good standing with both their current and past clubs.

Competitive Players:
  • Financial aid is not granted to returning competitive players who either fail to complete their required volunteer hours or have an outstanding balance from the previous season.
  • To be eligible for financial aid, players and their families must pay the full registration fees, adhere to all guidelines outlined in the Player/Parent Competitive Contract, and consistently attend all practices and games.
  • Additionally, families receiving financial aid are expected to actively participate in club and team activities, including mandatory volunteer hours.
  • The number of volunteer hours required depends on the amount of aid awarded.
  • Failure to meet these requirements may result in the loss of financial aid and the player’s suspension from games and practices.
Recreational Players:

FLS provides financial aid for registration fees to families who demonstrate financial need or hardship. In return, recipients are expected to actively participate in club and team activities. Failure to meet these participation expectations may result in the loss of financial aid and the player’s eligibility to participate in practices and games.

Amount of Aid Awarded:

The amount of aid awarded is applied directly to a player’s club-related costs, such as competitive tuition, monthly dues (for competitive players), or recreational registration fees (for recreational players).

Each season, the Financial Aid Committee determines the total amount of aid available. However, the club is not obligated to award all or any of the available funds. Aid awards are based on reported family income and the total number of requests received. The maximum aid a player can receive in a season will not exceed 100% of their membership dues and team fees.

Application Process:

Applications for financial aid are available online and must be completed online by the deadline to be considered.

Application deadline for both Competitive and Recreational players is June 5, 2026.
