Riley Johnson of the Folsom Lake Earthquakes 06 Premier Girls was one of 18 players invited to play for the Western Regional Olympic Development Program (ODP) team – a team comprised of players from 14 western states. She was noticed by a regional ODP scout at the 2019 ODP West Championships in Phoenix in January 2019. Riley was one of two Folsom Lake Earthquakes 06 girls, the other being Olivia Marsh, to play on the 2018/2019 Cal North State ODP team. That team went undefeated with nine wins and one tie.
To make the Western Regional Team, Riley tried out with 100 other 06 girls over four days at Linfield College in McMinnville, OR. Of these, 40 were selected to the Western Regional ODP Pool and finally, 18 girls were selected to travel to events over the next year.
In addition to Riley, five other 06 FLEQ girls were just selected to the 2019/2020 State ODP pool: Shae Collie, Morgan Halverson, Olivia Marsh, Savannah Miller, and Tahlia Smith.
Congratulations to Riley and the five other FLEQ girls on their successes.
