The Folsom Lake Surf Girls Pre- Academy Program has been a tremendous success this year even with all of the challenges and restrictions put on Youth Soccer .

Our season started a little later than anticipated but we have had some extremely dedicated players and parents to the Program.

Currently, we have 12 Girls playing on the 2013 Team and 10 girls playing on the 2014 Team.

Our focus in the first few weeks of the Pre-Academy season has been on developing the Girl’s overall technical skills with the ball.

Each practice we spend time on passing, dribbling, trapping, and learning the fundamentals of the game.

As the season progressed we also started working in development sessions based on spacing on the field and being able to play certain positions. This is a crucial early introduction to recognizing both positional and tactical decisions the girls will need to develop as they transition into 7 v 7 play next year.

We have been practicing each Tuesday and Thursday since late July and have had wonderful participation all season.

These girls love to spend time together, learn the game of soccer in a competitive environment , all while having the most fun we possibly can.

Both Josh Rinehart and I have enjoyed coaching along side Rey Harris this season and we look forward to seeing these girls move forward and progress through the Surf Programs for many years to come.

If you have or know of a girl born in the years of 2013/2014 that might like to join the fun, have them email Coach Matt at mattroy@summitalmonds.com.
