NCAA Eligibility Center (Formerly NCAA Clearinghouse)
All prospective student athletes who want to play Division I and II collegiate sports are required to file their high school transcripts, SAT scores, and ACT scores with the NCAA Eligibility Center. You should register at the beginning of your Junior year.
Similar to the NCAA Eligibility Center, prospective student athletes who aim to play at the NAIA level need to file their transcripts, SAT scores, and ACT scores with the NAIA Eligibility Center. Again, you should register at the beginning of your Junior year.
The SAT is one of two exams (ACT being the other) that most colleges require for admission and student-athletes must achieve a certain score on the exam in order to be eligible for collegiate athletics. Through the CollegeBoard website, you can register for upcoming SAT exams, send your scores to the colleges of your choice, take practice exams to get prepared for the real one, and learn about available scholarships.
The ACT is the other exam that most college require for admissions. Similar to the SAT, every student-athlete must achieve a certain score in order to play collegiate athletics. FASFA Website (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
Every prospective student-athlete should file a FASFA. It’s the application for receiving federal and state funds to attend public and private colleges. Students are awarded based funds based on financial need and student merit. Learn more about the program and specific awards offered at different colleges.
FastWeb is a search engine dedicated to finding scholarships for prospective and current students. There are so many scholarships available and so many go unnoticed by students. Be sure to visit this site early and often because, based on the scholarships, often there are additional requirements such as personal statements.
The CSU Mentor website is where you apply to the California State University (CSU) of your choice. The CSU system consists of various universities throughout California. The following institutions are part of the CSU system: Cal Maritime, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, CSU Bakersfield, CSU Channel Islands, CSU Chico, CSU Dominguez Hills, CSU East Bay, CSU Fresno, CSU Fullerton, CSU Long Beach, CSU Los Angeles, CSU Monterey Bay, CSU Northridge, CSU Sacramento, CSU San Bernardino, CSU San Marcos, CSU Stanislaus, Humboldt State, San Diego State, San Francisco State, San Jose State, and Sonoma State.
Like the CSU system, the University of California (UC) system is also a group of universities in California. You may apply to these universities through the UC site. The following institutions are part of the UC system: UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, UC San Francisco, and UC Santa Cruz.
