On Oct. 31st 125+ players came out to Econome Family Park to get the most consecutive juggles they could in 5 minutes time to raise money for their team and more importantly for those who can’t afford the cost of competitive soccer. When the day was done, we had recorded an official tally of 9,631 consecutive juggles! Well done players! On top of that we raised thousands of dollars (still counting everything up, will report on that in the next newsletter), with one player raising over $1,100! We couldn’t be prouder about how our club came together to make this day such a positive.
One of our big goals here at Surf is to truly emphasis the club aspect, we aren’t just about soccer, we are also about doing good things in our community, building positive relationships for our families and players, and opening up our club to those who can’t afford it. Walking around practices during these COVID times and talking with parents it is so obvious to see how lucky these players are to have soccer as an outlet in their lives. As a parent of a player, I can truly say how lucky we both are as it’s an outlet for me as well!
In coming years, we plan to expand this day into a family soccer festival where Juggles for Dimes is just part of the fun. We can’t wait to build on what we as a club have started!
We had some great volunteer photographers that took tons of pics including professional photographer Tyler Mussetter. Thank you Tyler and the rest of our volunteer photographers! Some examples of the pictures are in the collages below.
As for the winners of the event…the medals have been ordered and we will track you down at practice to hand them out to you. Want to make one shout out to Camille Schwary who we missed in our initial tabulations of juggles. With 288 juggles she would have earned 3rd place so we will be giving out two third place medals in that age group. Well done Camille! And congrats to all of our winners!
