Folsom Lake Surf Newsletter | October 2020

Message from Fritz

Dear members,

I have always believed that youth sports organizations are well positioned to provide it’s members with personal growth opportunities, well beyond their main area of focus. Valuable lessons can be learned through travel, fundraising, volunteerism and being recognized for academic achievements. Further, good habits formed through making a commitment to others, staying healthy, being self-disciplined, balancing school with sport and making good decisions in general are important to establishing a mindset for success. While we have started to place more emphasis on delivering programs that address these areas, we are also focusing on extending growth areas in soccer.

This past month we saw many players participate in ODP tryouts and Surf Select ID Camps. Players we nominated represented us well with many being invited to continue on with these prestigious programs. Over 150 players are attending weekly skills development classes at our training center and our coaches continue to work weekly with recreation players who are looking to make the jump into competitive soccer. For our older players interested in playing soccer in college, we have developed a program around the Scouting Zone platform used across the Surf network.

Lastly, please allow me to leave you with a little teaser about something coming soon....FUTSAL!

We will continue to seek opportunities for our players to grow both on and off the field. It Is my belief that it is our job to open as many doors for our children as possible, while giving them the skills to choose which ones to walk through.
